Many of you lovelies will know how passionate I am about all that bloom, blossom and flower and how I love a bit of floral pretty, particularly at weddings.
So today I present to you…*A Floral Haven at the Chelsea Flower Show*
In honour of next week’s prestigious *Chelsea Flower Show*, I am going to share with you some of the delights of this show from previous years. I have made it a tradition to attend Chelsea every year and I am never disappointed. My dear grandma first described Chelsea to me as ‘the most fabulous place you can imagine flowers to be’ and oh boy was she right!
As a wedding planner, I often get asked where to get wedding flower inspiration from. I get many of my wedding styling and planning ideas from flowers! I love going to garden centres, gardens and flower shows, which fills my mind with an array of creative ideas.
For me, the *Chelsea Flower Show* is an iconic British institution and is filled with innovative, creative and beautiful design ideas, which are perfect for gorgeous wedding inspiration.
Taking place for five days each year in May at the Royal Hospital in Chelsea, the home to the Chelsea Pensioners, the RHS puts on a quintessentially British spectacle. Thursday – Saturday are open to the public, closing with the infamous Saturday sell-off . All of these lovely flowery people become quite passionate in trying to acquire certain plants that they have been eyeing up all week. A lot of the exhibitors often give away many beautiful flowers during the take down of their displays.
The whole atmosphere in Chelsea is just incredible and from the moment you arrive at Sloane Square tube station, you have already entered into an a flower crazy world.
The whole of Chelsea is transformed into utter floral heaven as shops create fabulous window displays and floral art installations to celebrate the *Chelsea Flower Show*. I always spend some time just wandering round the streets to take in the wonderful displays, they really are quite a spectacle!
This year looks to be just as impressive with *Chelsea in Bloom* celebrating a marvellous ten year anniversary and they are marking this magnificent occasion with a rather wonderful Fairytales theme.
The *Chelsea Flower Show* is incredibly popular with tickets often selling out for the public days well in advance of the show. And when you see the pictures, you will realise why!!
One of the main attractions at Chelsea is the fabulous array of specially designed show gardens. These are often featured on the BBC leading up to the show. They really do have the floral wow factor and often explore a particular theme.
The Grand Pavilion is probably my favourite part of the show – one giant marquee filled with every kind of pretty flower and plant you can imagine, set out in the most beautiful and inventive displays.
Nurseries, flower growers and plant societies showcase their most beautiful flowers and plants.
Young Florist and Florist of The Year are also hosted showing the most exquisite of floral art.
There are lots of lovely stands which showcase the best of British products, including everything you can possibly think of that is garden related – tools, sheds, furniture, barbeques, firepits, pagodas, arches, pavilions, ornaments, sculptures!
They also have other lovely non-garden products, which often (but not always) take on a floral theme – pretty scarves, country kitchen crockery, beautiful pieces of art, creative crafts, unique jewellery, country bumpkin attire and much more. I often come away with several fabulous purchases…well, it would be rude not to really!
The show is filled with floral beauty, creativity and innovation. It is definitely worth a visit for inspiration for your own home and garden, to get you thinking about wedding flowers or just to appreciate the floral pretty. Whatever your motivation for going is, the outcome will be exactly the same…utter floral delight!
