Today’s fabulous wedding inspiration is *A Ray of Sunshine*, the wonderful wedding of Alice and Matthew infused with roses, bunting, pom poms and balloons.
*Wedding Planning* Alice and Matthew got married almost two years after their engagement and found it easier to spread the planning over this time.
“At first when you identify everything you need to consider, it did feel overwhelming. However, when you begin to plan and identify when you need to book suppliers it became a lot easier. Doing it over two years helped, we were able to identify what would look best but also find the best supplier.”
They enjoyed planning the wedding together,
“Matthew and I planned the whole day together, we wanted it to be everything we wanted. We did take on preferences of others but we both had the final say.”
Alice added, “We wanted our day to be completely different to anything we had already seen.”
*Wedding Inspiration* Alice and Mark had attended The National Wedding Show and had seen a pastel yellow bridesmaid dress and that is what inspired them in their theme.
*Wedding Style* Pastel, Yellow, Ivory, Summer, Vintage, Fun
*Colour Scheme* Pastel Yellow and Ivory
*The Bride* Alice bought her wedding dress from Susan Graley’s bridal boutique in Coventry, which was perfect as Alice wanted a local supplier and had heard good reviews about her shop.
Alice’s dress shopping is more unusual than most,
“When I talk to people about this, everyone seems so shocked. I went to one wedding dress shop and tried on one dress and fell in love with it immediately. I knew I did not want anything else”.
Alice wore a strapless ivory Benjamin Roberts gown with floral detail and looked absolutely beautiful in it,
“I knew what style I wanted so I just happened to pick this one dress up and try it on and felt amazing in it.”
Alice accompanied the dress with a gorgeous fingertip veil scattered with crystals and wore her hair up.
“I always wear my hair down so wanted something really different. I also wanted to make sure the detail of the dress was not covered. I chose a vintage loose bun which was curled loosely quite high up so the veil would sit underneath.”
A beautiful bouquet of cream and yellow roses, created by Suzanne Evetts, completed Alice’s stunning bridal look,
“I chose cream and yellow roses. I felt these would complement my ivory dress and would fit well with the summer theme”
*The Groom* Matthew had lots of fun selecting his groomsmen and announced them X-factor style in good humour.
Matthew and his groomsmen were dressed by The Wedding Barn in Leamington Spa in traditional tails, complete with cream waistcoat and yellow cravat.
Their dapper look was completed with a cream rose, created by Suzanne Evetts.
They were excellent at fulfilling their duties on the day, such as welcoming guests to the church.
*Bridesmaids* Alice selected two bridesmaids: her twin sister and her best friend.
Alice felt it was really important for them to be in keeping with the wedding style and so decided against heavy fabrics, such as satin and wanted something light that would be perfect for the sunshine.
Instead she opted for summery strapless, pastel yellow, chiffon dresses. The Belsoie bridesmaid dresses were sourced from Precious Bridal Rooms in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Alice commented that she had much fun with the bridesmaids trying on dresses.
The ladies had matching bouquets to Alice’s, such pretty flowers, again created by Suzanne Evetts.
*The Church* All Saints Church in Allesley Village was always the only option for Alice and Matthew,
“We chose the place we met and had bought a house”
‘Make Me A Channel of Your Peace’ was an important and meaningful part of the ceremony, as this had been sang at Alice’s brother’s funeral. What a lovely touch!
*Walking Down the Aisle* Alice was walked down the aisle to Pachelbel’s ‘Canon In D’ by her father.
The ceremony was Alice and Matthew’s most memorable part of the day, which is just so lovely to hear.
*Transport* C.G Wedding Cars provided the sophisticated and classic 1936 cream Rolls Royce.
*The Reception*Alice and Matthew had visited a number of venues before deciding on Ansty Hall but when they saw it, they knew it was right,
“We visited a number of venues and fell in love with Ansty Hall. We wanted our venue to have nice grounds for our guests to have arrival drinks as we had photographs”
Alice and Matthew also “loved the orangery and how secluded this was” and therefore selected this for their wedding reception. They loved the flexibility of Ansty Hall, as they were able to decorate how they wanted to, they had no restrictions with the menu and the decor suited the colour scheme and wedding style perfectly.
Guests were treated to champagne on the lawns followed by a delicious summery wedding breakfast, including tomato and mozzarella crostini and finished off with a delicious raspberry pavlova.
Alice and Matthew put a great deal of thought into their reception, and I just adore their wedding decor: pastel yellow and ivory pom poms were hung from the ceiling, an abundance of bunting graced the walls and chairs were decorated with pale yellow bows.
Tables were beautifully decorated with tall martini glasses filled with ivory and cream roses. Guests then enjoyed a “relaxed, fun and memorable” evening reception.
Alice is a school teacher and I adore the utterly charming touches her pupils gave her.
*A Piece of Wedding Cake* They chose a three tier “simple but elegant” wedding cake created by The Fairy Elephant Bakery. Each tier had a different flavour: the bottom tier, a fruit cake, the middle tier a raspberry sponge and the top tier a lemon sponge. Guests were treated to this delight during the evening reception.
*Wedding Favours* Guests were given yellow bon bons as a little sweet treat that kept in with the pastel yellow and summery theme.
*Wedding Stationery* Invitations were designed by the Design Fairy and was the first insight for wedding guests into Alice and Matthew’s charming wedding style, complete with ivory and yellow vintage bows. Alice followed on from this and designed the place name cards herself to match the theme, whilst the venue created a vintage bunting seating plan.
*Entertainment* Guests were treated to a range of music throughout the day.
*Photography* Rebecca Dawe Photography captured the day for Alice and Matthew and had come recommended by Ansty Hall. They loved her work and decided on a mix of traditional, natural and humorous shots for their wedding photos. If you would like to see more of this gorgeous wedding photography, please see *Rebecca Dawe Photography*
*Videography* Alice and Matthew’s family friend filmed the day for them, so that they could re-live their wedding memories.
*Best Wedding Moment* “Seeing Matthew at the church and the service itself”
*Memorable Wedding Moments* “The church service, arriving at the reception on a red carpet and the photographs, making memories with family and friends.”
*Most Surprising Moment* “Just how quickly everything passes you by”
*Moment You Were So Glad To Have Included*
“The balloon release – this was in memory of the people who are no longer with us”
*Photo That Encapsulates the Day*
“The confetti shot as we believe this encapsulates just how happy us and our guests were on the day”
* Wedding Memories* They chose a wedding story book to tell the story of their day from beginning to end. They have their favourite wedding photos framed in their house and they decided to order a photo DVD with all of the photos captured from the wedding.
*Honeymoon* Alice and Matthew stayed at Ansty Hall before flying off the next day to Sri Lanka. They loved their honeymoon and had such a fabulous time, the highlights being,
“Just the two of us, an elephant ride and going to a place completely different to anywhere we had been before.”
*Pearls of Wedding Wisdom*
* “Research local suppliers as these can be a lot more convenient and a lot cheaper.”
* “Enjoy every single moment and take as much as you can away from the wedding day. Think of it as a once in a life time moment.”
Wow what a wedding and *Sparkle Pearls and Lace* just loves the unusual colour scheme that Alice and Matthew selected! We adore the wedding decor – pom poms and bunting, what more prettiness could we ask for? The wedding photos are just gorgeous and we are just so delighted to have featured this summery ray of sunshine. A huge thank you to Alice and Matthew for sharing their wonderful day!
