How did Run Wild Bouquets begin?
The idea for ‘Run Wild Bouquets’ came in 2013 when I got married. My husband and I didn’t want real flowers so I made my own paper bouquet, centrepieces and decorations (which included over 70 paper pompoms and 500 origami flowers that doubled as favours). Everything I made went down a storm with our guests and I realised there must be other brides who didn’t want real flowers or wanted something just a little bit different… and so ‘Run Wild Bouquets’ was born!
Where do you get your inspiration from?
My inspiration comes from themes, hobbies and seasons. Some brides come to me with a colour scheme which inspires their order, or they want a specific flower that’s out of season (for example a sunflower bouquet at Christmas). A friend of mine loves knitting, so I made her a wool ball bouquet (with knitting needles). The most popular type of bouquet I’m asked to make are book bouquets inspired by my bride’s favourite books.
I believe that a bouquet shouldn’t just be pretty. It should reflect who you are, your wedding theme and colours. It should be unique – just like my brides and their weddings.
What can Run Wild Bouquets offer to brides?
‘Run Wild Bouquets’ can offer brides a bespoke bouquet service – with a smile! I make fabric, paper and wool bouquets – as well as quirky creations. I encourage brides to ‘let their imaginations run wild’ when envisaging their perfect bouquet!
The bouquets I make last and last (unlike real flowers). I feel proud knowing that, after a wedding, the creations I make act as a keepsake for the bride. I also make bridesmaid bouquets (perfect to double as a bridesmaid’s gift), flower girl wands, corsages, decorations and cake toppers.
Please describe Run Wild Bouquets in three words
What different materials do you use to make the bouquets?
I use a variety of materials: wool, fabrics (such as chiffon, organza, velvet, felt, lace, cotton and satin) and different types of paper (tissue, book, music notation… I’ve even used a Haynes manual!), as well as embellishments such as ribbons, brooches and pins. It all depends on my brides’ imaginations and wants. Anything is possible from fairy lights to pine cones!
Can personal touches be added into the bouquet?
100% yes! I love it when brides want to add something personal – photos, lockets… even materials from their mother’s wedding dress!
How far in advance of the wedding should a bride contact you about a bouquet?
It depends on my schedule, but I’d ask for at least 6-weeks to make an order. That gives my brides lots of time to see photos (during the creation process) to ensure they’re 100% happy.
