*Sparkle Season: Somerset House*

Posted in: Dreamy Dates On: December 9, 2014

Today’s *Sparkle Season* post features *Somerset House* hosted by *Fortnum and Mason*
We made a festive visit to London this week and our first stop was Somerset House, which offers a truly magical Christmas experience filled with sparkle.
This year’s festive makeover at *Somerset House* is hosted by the luxurious department store *Fortnum and Mason* and highlights include:
The magical ice rink that resides in the courtyard of *Somerset House* is just beautiful.
*The Christmas Tree*
This year’s glorious Christmas tree is just so pretty! With a blue and gold colour scheme and covered in giant baubles – the tree is just festive heaven.
The infamous Fortnum and Mason picnic baskets (which usually host the incredible Christmas hampers) adorn the branches with the notable ‘F and M’ initials.
The West Wing of *Somerset House* is filled with lots of Christmas cheer. This pop-up *Fortnum and Mason* Christmas shop is spread across fifteen beautifully decorated rooms:
The Tea Shop | Fortnum’s Lodge | Gifts for Her | Children’s Room | Gifts for Him | The Scent Room | The Christmas Rooms | Gift Wrapping | The Chocolate Shop | The Pantry | Festive Fare | Hamper Room
This is a mini version of the divine department store and features all of the Fortnum Festive Favourites such as biscuits, chocolates, mince pies, tea, china sets and the signature hampers.
A plethora of Christmas decorations with glitz, sparkle and glitter are available to decorate your tree beautifully.
There is also plenty of Christmas gift inspiration and an exclusive ‘SKATE’ range created exclusively for Somerset House, including bauble, charm and hamper.
The walls host facts about Fortnum and Mason at Christmas and the arches are decorated with festive garlands and twinkling fairy lights.
The Christmas Arcade also features the perfect wintery stop – Fortnum’s Winter Lodge.
A bowl of nuts with nut cracker and satsumas is on each table.
We had the most delicious hot chocolate here. This was accompanied by the most amazing marshmallows we have ever tasted. There was a whole selection of flavours to choose from including vanilla, raspberry.
They also offer a selection of savoury treats, a wintery fondue, champagne, cocktails and mulled cider.
*Festive Fun*
There is still plenty of time to enjoy the festivities here, as the ice rink runs until 11th January 2015.
If you are looking for something festive, *Glad Tidings Tuesday* provides late night Christmas fun at Somerset House on Tuesdays from 17.30 – 21.00 until 23rd December.
Sparkles,
