We have fabulous planning inspiration today with stunning wedding venue, Stratton Court Barn.
*Stratton Court Barn* has become one of our favourite wedding venues since we featured their gorgeous *Woodland Fairy Styled Shoot* on the blog recently. Those dreamy images gave us just a small glimpse into how wonderful a wedding at *Stratton Court Barn* could be.
The photos speak for themselves but we will say it anyway, Stratton Court Barn is simply spectacular! With options to hold a civil ceremony and/or wedding reception, combined with the beautiful stone barn, wedding photographs are sure to be gorgeous! You will be personally looked after by the wonderful Karin who will ensure all aspects of your wedding planning are calm and enjoyable, resulting in a day that you and your partner will simply adore.
We love the look of the barn and the fact that there is so much flexibility to make it look super pretty for a rustic, vintage or country chic inspired wedding. One of the greatest things about this venue is the vast outdoor space, which is perfect for charming wedding photos and for your guests to explore. If you are looking for a stunning wedding venue that allows you to totally personalise your day, then *Stratton Court Barn* is your venue!

Stratton Court Barn’s fabulous wedding planner, Karin Tindall has provided today’s Pearls of Wedding Wisdom…
*What is the history of Stratton Court Barn?*
Stratton Court Barn was built as a traditional stone barn in 1880, and was used for its original purpose (housing sheep and cattle) at Pool Farm – which was originally a dairy farm – until 25 years ago. Chris and Cathy Wigmore then bought the farm and converted the barn for corporate use. In the last two years, it’s been further refurbished to become a perfect wedding venue.
*Whereabouts is Stratton Court Barn located?*
Stratton Court Barn is nestled in Oxfordshire countryside, but is located only 15 minutes from J9 on the M40 and A34, just outside Bicester. This means it’s very convenient to get to from Milton Keynes, Buckingham, Bicester, Oxford, Birmingham and London.
*What makes Stratton Court Barn a unique wedding venue?*
The shape and size of the barn means that – although we can seat 90 people in the day and host 150 for an evening reception – every wedding feels intimate and relaxed. Lots of outside space that can be personalised!
*What kind of experience do you hope that you provide for a wedding?*
We aim for every couple to feel at home and relaxed when they are at the venue. Being a countryside farm, a relaxed and informal approach – yet attentive – is key to making this happen. We strive for each wedding to be unique, and for all couples to put their own stamp on their day.
Wedding ceremonies take place in the Main Barn. We’re licensed for 90 guests. There is an option for outside weddings, where the majority of the ceremony will take place on the front barn step, but the signing would happen inside the open double glass doors.
For the drinks reception, guests are welcomed in to the bar & lounge area – or outside, weather permitting! – while we shut the door to the Main Barn and turn it around for the wedding breakfast.
We can seat 80 guest with a traditional long top table, or 90 if we just have round tables. We talk at length with each couple before their day to ensure we know exactly how they want the barn to look for their reception. We are so happy to come with hints and tips, but first and foremost the day has to be tailored around the bride and groom’s wishes. Once the evening reception gets underway, both sides of the barn (the Main Barn and Bar & Lounge) are in use, allowing lots of space for up to 150 guests, with no additional turn-around needed.
We have a host of caterers for the wedding breakfast, which we recommend based on the type and style of food the bride & groom want, along with their budget. There is even more flexibility with evening catering. In the daytime, we want to ensure each couple has a lovely meal – whether that is an afternoon tea, a bbq or a traditional three course meal – with a smooth and seamless service.
*What local accommodation would you recommend for wedding guests?*
The nearby Bicester Hotel Golf and Spa is a traditional four star hotel, only 15 minutes away. However, as a bride and groom, I suggest looking at quirky and fun local options (less than 5 minutes away) such as The Stone Barn in Stratton Audley, The Shepherd’s Hut in Poundon, Grange Farm Cottages in Godington or The Garden Barn in Finmere.

*We love the idea of a Stratton Court hen party! What are you able to offer for hens wanting a lovely weekend in Oxfordshire?*
We’re “country” through-and-through, so our hen packages are perfect for girls who like to spend the weekend in their wellies! Start off at Pool Farm with quad bike trekking, air rifle shooting and speeding along on a racing buggy; then head over to a fabulous local gastro pub with the best food and drink around; then giggle the night away around a warming fire pit; before tucking in to bed in a luxury bell tent, complete with carpets, fairy lights, and luxury duvets and pillows on a soft mattress.
*What are your top 3 tips for couples searching for their wedding venue?*
*Know your budget (it will save you so much time!)
*Have a think about what’s important to you on your wedding day. The food? The space for photos? The timings? The evening entertainment? Convey this to the wedding coordinator and make sure the venue fits your requirements.
*Make sure your venue suits your theme – or vice versa! The vintage/rustic look is perfect for a barn; while high-end glamour fits a stately home like a glove!
A huge thanks to Karin for sharing her top venue tips and for showcasing Stratton Court Barn to us; it has been fabulous to have more of an insight into this gorgeous wedding venue.
